What is an Artists Rendezvous?

The Heart of America Artists Rendezvous is a gathering of artists to paint together in a beautiful setting. These wet-paint events (also called "plein air" painting events) can be found all around the United States, and draw more and more artists and art collectors every year.

An Invitation to the 2010 Artists Rendezvous and Art Sale

If you had a chance to drive around Bentonville during the 2009 Heart of America Artists Rendezvous last year, you will remember the joy of seeing near-45 artists sketching and painting. The beautiful grounds of The Peel Mansion Museum and Garden served as the headquarters of the event, and were abuzz with artists and observers alike.

We are excited about this year and the opportunity to have you join us in celebrating the culture and the beauty of Northwest Arkansas. There will be an abundant turnout of artists painting the three days of the event, in a variety of locations. We are also introducing a silent auction this year at the Compton Gardens.

Whether you are an art appreciator, collector or just looking for a way to introduce your family to a new experience, we encourage you to come interact with the many talented artists.

You are invited to attend the 2010 event on the following dates:

Thursday, May 13

• Artists will be painting from 9:00am till dark. You are invited to come to The Peel Mansion Museum and Garden to watch and meet the artists. Information will be available detailing other locations artists may be found within a short driving distance.
• A silent auction will be going on from Thursday, May 6 through Friday, May 14 at the conference center of the Compton Gardens in downtown Bentonville. We encourage you to stop by and see the beautiful artwork that select artists from the Rendezvous have displayed.

Friday, May 14

• Again artists will be painting throughout the day.
  
• Bidding for the silent auction at the Compton Gardens will close at 5 pm, and works may be picked up anytime after that during their regular business hours.

Saturday, May 15

• Artists will be painting in the morning.
• 1:00 pm at the Peel Mansion there will be a speech given by Chris Crosman, the Chief Curator of the new Crystal Bridges Museum and anyone is invited to attend. At 3:00 pm the winners of the painting competition will be announced.
  
• The major event, the Art Show and Sale, will be open from 3:00 pm till 6:30 pm. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
